Laboratory school students top regional science tilt

Three students of the MMSU Laboratory School reaped awards in the regional Pisay Pinnasiriban contest conducted by the Philippine Science High School – Ilocos Region Campus (PSHS-IRC) last November 28.

 

Dainelle Angelo Labuton of Laboratory High School in Batac emerged first place in the Quiz Bee for Grade 8 category. For Grade 6 and 7 categories, Jacob Miguel L. Flor of Laboratory Elementary School in Laoag and Maximus De Los Reyes of LHS Batac finished second and third, respectively. 

 

Professors Romelyn T. Lagura, Rhea M. Cabrera and Rosalie J. Bacister served as coaches of the MMSU contestants. 

 

The winners received certificates of recognition, medals, cash prizes amounting to Php 1,500 (1st), Php 1,300 (2nd), and Php 1,000 (3rd), and canon printer for the first placer.  The coaches of the winning contestants were also given Php 500 cash and certificates.

 

“I’m very happy with the performance of our pupils and students in the contest,” expressed Dr. Bert A. Gamiao, principal, hoping that more of them will reap awards in the contest related to Science, Mathematics, and other allied fields. 

 

Now on its 6th year, the Pisay Pinnasiriban was conducted online via Google Meet and Knowledge Hub-IRC, a learning management system of the PSHS. – Mark Ian Tagami, correspondent
