Comm students bestow awards on local media

In the first-ever awarding of the Young Communicators' Circle dubbed “Aweng” on March 24, at the Teatro Ilocandia, the organization recognized exemplary broadcast journalists and local radio stations in the province.
Hailed as best local AM radio personality is Mr. Romnick Quimoyog of Bombo Radyo - Laoag. He is an alumnus of the BA Communications program of MMSU. The radio station was also awarded as the best local AM radio station.
Similarly, Love Radio - Laoag received two awards. These are the best local FM radio station and best local FM radio personality for DJ Jaja May. Headlines Ilocos was recognized as the best social media news page.
Mr. Quimuyog expressed his gratitude for the award bestowed to him by the organization, “I am incredibly humbled and overwhelmed with this honor. This will surely inspire me more in honing my craft.”
In her message, Dr. Prima Fe Franco, vice president for academic affairs, remarked “Thank you and congratulations to our radio stations for your contributions in the development of the society.”
Recipients of the awards were chosen by the students of the BA Communication program.
The awarding was simultaneously conducted with the gala night of the organization. (HLY/JVBT, StratCom)
