Heeding the call for creative and relevant research programs, the Mariano Marcos State University – College of Health Sciences (MMSU-CHS) is eyeing to build its Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Research Laboratory this year.

With a Php 9 million grant from the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), the University has started its plan to construct the facility which will be used to generate new knowledge on the field of rehabilitation sciences.

Under the Institutional Development and Innovation Grants for State Universities and Colleges (SUCs), the funding seeks to upgrade MMSU’s institutional capability and sustain its development efforts to produce the required manpower resources for national development.

MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis said the work is “a response of the University to address the dearth of facilities devoted in progressing the culture of research in this highly technical allied medical profession.”

Prof. Ryan Dean Sucgang, CHS officer-in-charge dean and project leader, said the facility will cater to the MMSU physical therapy students and practitioners who will undergo internship and trainings.

“This will further increase the scope of this field which will reflect improvement of service delivery in an evidence-based manner,” he stressed.

As part of its seven-point agenda dubbed ACHIEVE, MMSU aims to become the cradle of transformative and commercially viable research and innovations. (SratCom)
