BOR holds regular meeting at MMSU

IN A historic first, the MMSU Board of Regents (BOR) holds its regular meeting today, Sept. 15, at the Ferdinand E. Marcos Hall Conference Room. The respective BORs of other SUCs in the region such as the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College, Northern Luzon Polytechnic State College, and Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University will also hold their meetings here today.

Dr. William C. Medrano, CHED commissioner who sits as chair of the boards of regents of SUCs in Region I, prefers that the board hold its meetings in the campuses. BOR meetings are usually held at the CHED Central Office in Quezon City.

Bismark Angelo A. Quidang will be sworn in as new alumni regent, following his election in July as president of the MMSU Federated Alumni Association, Inc. Engineer Marcial D. Gabriel will also be inducted to his second term as faculty regent. He was reelected as president of the Faculty Association, Inc.

President Miriam E. Pascua serves as vice chair of the board. The other members are: Sen. Edgardo J. Angara, chair of the Senate Committee on Education Arts, and Culture (represented by Governor Imee Marcos); Rep. Juan Edgrado M. Angara, chair of the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education (represented by Ria Christina G. Fariñas); Director Leonardo N. Quitos, Jr. of NEDA-I; Director Renato G. Maguigad of DA-RFU I; and Reindel Owen E. Salvador, president of the Central Student Council. Dr. Alegria T. Visaya is board secretary.

The BOR met at MMSU during the presidency of Dr. Saturnino M. Ocampo, but only in a special meeting called to resolve an urgent issue.
