Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) hosts a week-long specialized training on Remote Sensing and Geographic Information Systems (RSGIS) from March 3 to 7, 2025, in collaboration with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) Thailand at the Chinese Learning Center and Center for Flexible Learning.

Mr. Ranadheer Reddy, an RSGIS expert and Project Officer from AIT, is leading the training sessions. The program aims to equip participants with essential skills in spatial data analysis, mapping, and geospatial technology, which are highly applicable in research, industry, and government sectors.

30 students have been selected for the training, with 10 students each from the College of Engineering, College of Computing and Information Sciences, and College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development. Participants engage in hands-on sessions focused on practical applications of RSGIS technology, including environmental monitoring, urban planning, agriculture, and disaster management.

This initiative is part of MMSU’s long-standing academic and research partnership with AIT, furthering the university’s mission to provide globally competitive education.
“This training is an exceptional opportunity for our students to gain hands-on experience in RSGIS, a technology that is becoming increasingly crucial across various sectors,” said Dr. Arlene Gonzales, chief of International Programs.

In addition to leading the training sessions, Mr. Reddy met with MMSU officials on March 3 to discuss strengthening the partnership between MMSU and AIT on research and technology-driven education.
