In a step toward a digital future, MMSU has rolled out its first-ever AI assistant to improve the enrollment process for new students in 2025. This advanced tool is set to simplify admissions by offering tailored degree program suggestions and streamlining student support from application to graduation.

Powered by advanced computer models from the DOST-Philippine Council for Industry, Energy and Emerging Technology Research and Development Project—Development of a Data-Driven Student Support System using Admission to Graduation Data—the AI assistant went live late in 2024. 

The AI assistant plays an important role in generating MCAT recommendations and enhancing the overall decision-making process for prospective students.

The initiative is a collaborative effort between the Data Science Unit of the Information Technology Center (ITC) and the College of Computing and Information Sciences (CCIS) – Department of Computer Science. Leading the project are Prof. James Patrick Acang, chief of the Data Science Unit; Dr. Saturnina Nisperos, dean of CCIS; Prof. Wilben Christie Pagtaconan, director of ITC; and Prof. Ralf Dela Cruz, former college secretary of CCIS.

MMSU OIC-President Prima Fe R. Franco lauded the innovation and its developers, emphasizing that the university is fully embracing artificial intelligence (AI) to make enrollment easier, more reliable, and more efficient. “We are continuously reinventing ourselves to be a university of the future,” she remarked.

In line with the MMSU 4.0 framework, this innovation strengthens MMSU’s role in educational advancement, helping students make better decisions about their future careers.
