Univ trains personnel to improve programs implementation

Deeply committed to improve the implementation of its development programs, the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) conducted a training-workshop on Outcomes-Based Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PME) of programs, projects, and activities via Zoom webinar last August 5.

The virtual activity aimed to train the research, development, and extension (RDE) workers in crafting an attainable plan and in devising an outcomes-based monitoring and evaluation process, including analysis and measurement, and knowledge management.

A total of 70 RDE coordinators from the different colleges, chiefs of offices, and staff under the research and extension directorates participated in the training-workshop.

Topics discussed were the Terms and Reference for the coordinators and the PME concepts by Dr. Sherlyn Nicolas, chief for monitoring and evaluation; Logical Framework by Dr. Carmelo J. Esteban, vice president for planning and development; Objective Setting by Dr. Aris Reynold V. Cajigal, extension director; and Determining Objectively Viable Information; and Data Flow, Collection and Management, and Dissemination and Use by Prof. Reynold Villacillo, director for planning.

Esteban said the enhancement training-workshop serves as the pounding ground of the colleges and units in crafting sustainable extension and outreach programs, thereby contributing to the university’s 7-point agenda to ACHIEVE.

MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis commended the Planning Office and Extension Directorate (ED) for conducting the activity, saying that “it is a great effort to sustain quality service while contributing impactful initiatives to all stakeholders especially in this time of COVID-19 pandemic.”

The activity marked the levelling-up of extension service delivery in the university, and it also served as an offshoot of the online training under the New Normal environment for learning (TUNNEL) Phase 1 conducted by the ED and the Information and Technology Center (ITC) last June. (StratCom)
