ONCE AGAIN, the College of Teacher Education (CTE) has proven true to its title as Center of Excellence in Teacher Education in the country as it landed fourth in the Bachelor of Elementary Education (BEEd) category and sixth in the Bachelor of Secondary Education (BSEd) group in the Licensure Examination for Teachers given Aug. 27.
The BEEd examinees obtained a passing rate of 70 percent – 40.77 higher than the national passing rate of 29.23. On the other hand, the BSEd examinees posted a passing rate of 62 percent – 29.56 higher than the national passing record of 32.44.
The Professional Regulation Commission reported that 17, 377 of the 59, 457 elementary teacher education graduates and 17, 290 of the 53, 303 secondary teacher education graduates passed the examination given by the board of professional teachers.
This is the third time that CTE landed as one of the top-performing schools of teacher education in the country. Last year, BEEd and BSEd examinees ranked fifth and 11th, respectively. In 2004, BEEd graduates placed sixth while BSEd examinees ranked 14th.
The new professional teachers will take their oath on Nov. 25 at the University of Baguio.
