<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=5><STRONG>Security chief is off duty</STRONG></FONT></P>

MR. EMMANUEL Laeda Rabanal Sr., chief of the university’s Security and Monitoring Services, has joined his Creator July 15 due to cardiac arrest.  He was 47.

He is survived by his wife, Marilou, and his nine children including Emmanuel Jr. who is only eight months old.

“Manny” entered the university on July 16, 1987 as a temporary Security Guard I.   He attained permanent status two years later.  From his previous item, he went on to serve as Clerk I until he became Human Resource Management Assistant on June 1, 1997. He was re-classified as Administrative Assistant II in 2004.

In July 2000, he was appointed by then President Saturnino M. Ocampo Jr. to act as chief of security services He was appointed to the same position on June 3, 2005 by then newly installed president, Dr. Miriam E. Pascua.  This time, however, he was named director of the Security and Monitoring Services. Early this year, he was reclassified as Security Officer I G-11.

Rabanal finished his B.S. in Business Administration from MMSU in 1987 and an Advanced ROTC course, also from this university, in 1986.  He recently attended an anti-terrorism training conducted by the Special Forces Regiment of the Philippine Army.

Meanwhile, due to the demise of Rabanal, President Miriam E. Pascua on July 17 designated Security Guard Basanio V. Perez as acting director of the Security and Monitoring Service.
