<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=5><STRONG>Prof. Violeta M. Glova, 51</STRONG></FONT></P>
PROFESSOR Violeta Monroy-Glova, former dean of the College of Health Sciences, has joined her Creator Dec. 5 due to breast cancer. She was 51.
She is survived by her five children: Divina Sirikit, a third year nursing student at MMSU; Omar Froilan and Alvin Oliver, both students of the University of the Philippines in Diliman; Ichiro Kelvin, second year student of the Philippine Science High School in Quezon City; and Allan Josef, graduating elementary pupil at the Catalino Acosta Memorial Elementary School in Batac.
Professor Glova served MMSU for 26 years, sharing her knowledge and expertise on psychiatric nursing with her students since June 13, 1979. She started out as Instructor and worked her way up to Associate Professor V.
She was appointed CHS dean by then President Saturnino M. Ocampo Jr. on July 28, 1999. Earlier, on July 5, 1995, the late former MMSU president, Dr. Elias L. Calacal, designated her officer in charge of the college.
Professor Glova was born on May 22, 1955 in Sinait, Ilocos Sur. She finished her nursing degree from the University of the East Ramon Magsaysay Memorial Medical Center in 1977. She earned her Master of Arts in Nursing at the University of the Philippines in 1983.
She was 2002 Outstanding Nursing Alumna of UERMMMC and 1998 Anastacia Giron Tupaz Awardee from the Academe by the Philippine Nurses Association of Ilocos Norte. MMSU cited her Outstanding Dean in 2001.
