PRESIDENT Miriam E. Pascua in her message during the opening program for freshmen and transferees on June 13 at the Teatro Ilocandia congratulated the 1,803 new students of the university’s main campus for hurdling the rigid admission requirements/policies of MMSU.

“You deserve to be called ‘scholars’ [of the government],” she said.  She underscored the fact that MMSU charges the lowest tuition fee among state universities in the region with only P50 per unit. She said: “You will be provided with quality education at the least cost.  You, therefore, have the ‘moral responsibility’ to pay back the government in terms of making good grades. You are fortunate to have been chosen from among thousands of hopefuls.”

She told the new students of how blessed the university is for having reached the “apex of academic excellence”. She informed them of the many accomplishments of the university in terms of instruction, research, extension, and agribusiness.

More importantly, “we will not only develop you into what you aspire to be but also lead you to godliness,” she said.  “We do not want you to remain in spiritual deafness. We invite you to open your hearts and understand the true meaning of what Christ died in the cross for.  Establish personal relationship with Christ. If you want to know more of the good news, please let us know,” she said.

Lastly, she encouraged the students to enjoy their stay in the university.
