THE ADMINISTRATIVE Council in its regular meeting May 17 approved the renaming of the Physical Education and Sports Development Office (PESDO) to Physical Education, Sports, and Socio-cultural Development Office (PESSDO).

According to Director Arsenio T. Gallego, the renaming was based from the fact that even if the University Cultural Affairs Office has been one of the three big divisions of PESDO, it has not been represented in the name PESDO.

In addition, the name, Gallego said, would aptly reflect the vision and mission of the university and the goals and objectives of the unit which is to promote and strengthen the sports, social, and cultural foundations of MMSU by providing students and staff the highest quality sports, socio-cultural, and recreational pursuits available.

The new name would now encompass all the activities of both the sports and cultural affairs of the university. 

Gallego hopes that with the new name, the unit will be more active and dynamic in advocating sports and cultural supremacy not only in the province and in the region but also in the national and international  scenes.
