THE UNIVERSITY will soon have an ambulance.
This was after the Board of Regents in its 74th regular meeting last March 16 approved P1.1M for its purchase. The amount will come from Fund 164 or from the collection from students’ tuition fees. The availability of such amount from the said fund was certified by Accounting Office Chief Milagros V. Cabuag.
According to Dr. Leonisa A. Silvestre, medical officer III, the ambulance will serve to mobilize casualties during athletic or reserve officers’ training activities; respond to any emergency situation in the university; transport students, employees, and staff for diagnostic work up or special treatment; and carry out activities of the University Clinic.
Silvestre said that it is indispensable during athletic and other students’ activities that accidents happen. As such, the clinic usually requests ambulance, she said, from other medical agencies such as the MMMH & MC or the Rural Health Unit of Batac.
With the acquisition of said vehicle, the university medical service is expected to provide better monitoring system and offer optimum health care for MMSU’s constituents.
