FOUR ORAL history researches were formally turned over to former First Lady Imelda R. Marcos by President Miriam E. Pascua during a special convocation dubbed “Recuerdo”, Sept. 11, at the Teatro Ilocandia.
The special program was spearheaded by the administration to commemorate the 90th birth anniversary of the late Ferdinand E. Marcos, the sixth president of the third Philippine Republic. His widow, the former First Lady, served as special guest.
The oral history researches conducted by MMSU faculty members through a grant from the Marcos Family present the undocumented achievements of the late President which intends to enlighten Filipinos especially the young generation who have been deprived of knowledge that rightly speaks of the greatness of the Ilocano President.
The four researches and their respective authors are: “FEM: Direct from People’s Lips” by Bella L. Gonzales-Ramos, Marlyn S. Cacatian, Weena L. Guiang, and Dyrma I. Sabas; “Educational Values if FEM as Reflected in his Presidential Speeches” by Marlina L. Lino, Elizabeth Marfel F. Gagni, Lorma Auria G. Quibilan, and Ma. Angelica O. Salas;
“FEM’s Economic Agenda for Ilocos Norte” by Joselito L. Lolinco and Natividad E. Lorenzo; and “FEM’s Vision of a State University in Ilocos Norte: The Eyewitnesses’ Account” by Josephine R. Domingo, Florecita Q. Cortero, Lovegrace dC. Campano, Patricia R. Reyes, and Frederick F. Rodrigo.
In her message, President Pascua said the oral history researches are the university’s humble way of giving back to the late former President and to his family their great gift of education that is MMSU. The former First Lady expressed her appreciation of the research outputs.
