THIRTY-TWO newly hired faculty from the different colleges of the university attended the Teaching Competency Enhancement Seminar conducted July 13, 19, and 20 at the University Training Center.  The seminar aimed to enhance their awareness, knowledge, and skills on new methods, approaches, and strategies in teaching including updates on the new trends and issues in education.

The training, which was conducted through a combination of lecture and demonstration, covered the following topics: syllabus making, the art of questioning, selected teaching strategies, construction of instructional objectives, test construction and item analysis, marking system, pedagogy-ICT integration, teachers’ attitudes and competencies for efficiency and effectiveness, and professionals’ code of ethics.

After the discussions, the trainees were grouped and asked to prepare for a teaching demonstration.

The College of Teacher Education, Personnel Office, and the Extension Directorate sponsored the training.

Dr. Wilma C. Natividad, CAS dean and acting vice president of academic affairs, congratulated and welcomed the new faculty to the MMSU family and challenged them to practice what is expected of them.
