UNIVERSITY researchers are now all set for the various commodity reviews of the Ilocos Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILARRDEC) to be held on different dates and venues in Region I starting June 19.
Scheduled to be presented are 33 papers earlier selected during the agency in-house review held May 15-17 at the University Training Center.
The vegetable commodity constitutes the biggest number of papers to be delivered with nine. The other papers are distributed in the following commodities: legumes-5; fruits-4; root crops-3; cereals-3; livestock and forage-3; bulb-2; forestry-2; environment-1; and arming system-1.
The research commodity reviews are held annually to evaluate researches and determine papers qualified for presentation in the ILARRDEC’s Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights. These are attended by researchers and evaluators from ILARRDEC memberagencies and from the Philippine Council for Agriculture, Forestry, and Natural Resources Research and Development and BAR.
This year, the commodity reviews will be held on the following dates and venues: sericulture – June 19-20, DMMMSU, Bacnotan, La Union; cereals, livestock, and forage – June 21, DA- LIARC, Bacnotan, La Union; forestry, agroforestry, environment, apiculture, and fruit crops – June 22-23, DENR-I, City of San Fernado, La Union; legumes, ornamentals, medicinals, vegetables, and bulb and root crops – June 26-27, MMSU, Batac, Ilocos Norte; cotton – June 28, CODA, Batac, Ilocos Norte; and rice and rice-based farming systems and tobacco – June 29-30, PhilRice, Batac, Ilocos Norte.
