The Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) has partnered with the University of Muhammadiyah Purwokerto (UMP), the largest private university in western Central Java in Indonesia, to conduct exchange programs starting this year. 

This new international partnership was formalized when MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis and UMP Rector Jebul Suroso signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) during a virtual ceremony on October 21. 

In the MOU, the two universities agreed to conduct student, faculty and researcher exchanges through field trips, on-the-job trainings, internships, volunteering opportunities, summer school, educational-tourism projects and visiting lectures. 

Both schools also committed to share their library holdings and other library linkages, information and publications; and promote industry-academe linkages.  

Consequently, a memorandum of agreement (MOA) for the conduct of faculty, student and cultural exchanges was signed by Agrupis and UMP Faculty of Letters Dean Ambar Pujiyatno in the same event. 

Suroso welcomed the MMSU-UMP partnership, and expressed thanks to officials of both universities for making the endeavor possible. 

He added UMP is actively developing international cooperation with hundreds of world-renown universities in the field of research. 

Agrupis said that the agreement “ensures that our students are developed holistically as global citizens despite the pandemic.” (StratCom)
