<P><FONT size=4><U>Eng’g coed is new chief</U></FONT><BR><FONT size=5><STRONG>Sirmata scribes named</STRONG></FONT></P>
THE OFFICE of Student Services and Development has announced the names of students to compose the editorial team of Sirmata, the official college students’ publication of the university. A fifth year civil engineering student has been selected as chief editor.
Hazel Queen Sambo, last year’s associate editor for Batac, was chosen to lead the paper after taking a written examination and an oral interview by a committee composed of the past chief editor, a former paper adviser, and a media practitioner.
Ariel Paolo Tejada, a fourth year development communication student and a veteran student writer, has been named associate editor for Batac. Mark Greg Pillos of CTE, on the other hand, has been chosen associate editor for Laoag.
Brandley Jenny Soriano (BSAcc IV) and Jumar Luis (BSBA IV), both of CBEA, have been selected to serve as managing editor and circulation manager, respectively.
The following compose the pool of section editors: Marian Reina Lorenzo (ABES IV, CAS), news; Verena Lace Ouano (BSN III, CHS), features; Joanna Tadena (BSAcc I, CBEA); Romel Pascua (BSE III, CTE), Iluko; Lerny Ley Soriano (BSCE I, COE), sports; and April Rafales (ABES II, CAS), literary.
Eight correspondents, each representing every college, were also chosen. They are: Hermenoel Soriano, CAF; Jerick Christian Dagdagan, CASAT; Christina Marie Llanes, CAS; Karl Nick Balintec, CBEA; Elioza Felipe, COE; Girlie Rasay, CHS; Kristina Hipolito, CIT; and Rhonel bandiola, CTE.
Moreover, Roberto Jose Domion (CIT), Levi Bayudan (CIT), Halen Agbayani (COE), and Justin Navarro (COE) have been selected illustrators or cartoonists while Patrick Sadornas of CBEA, lay-out artist.
Brian Jay Corpuz, CIT instructor and former Sirmata chief editor, has been chosen by the editorial team to serve as paper adviser.
Meanwhile, President Miriam E. Pascua, after administering the oath of office of the new set of staff, urged the students to be responsible and fair in news gathering and writing.
