CTE mentors complete Coursera online courses

Mr. John Paul C. Vallente and Ms. Niña Christelle M. Sumintac, faculty members of the MMSU College of Teacher Education (CTE), have recently completed their massive open online courses (MOOCs) offered by Coursera, the world’s largest learning platform for higher education.

 

These online courses are being offered and facilitated by reputable schools in the United States of America.

 

Vallente finished a five-week course on ‘Foundations of Virtual Instruction’ from the University of California in Irvine, USA last August 2.

 

Meanwhile, Sumintac completed a four-week course on ‘Gender and Sexuality: Diversity and Inclusion in the Workplace’ from the University of Pittsburgh in Pennsylvania, USA last August 10.

 

Moreover, the two professors and Ms. Jacquelyn B. Lejano of CTE are currently undergoing other online courses. Vallente is taking up an eight-week course on ‘Methods and Statistics in Social Sciences’ from the University of Amsterdam in Netherlands; Sumintac is pursuing a 10-week course on ‘International Women’s Health and Human Rights’ from Stanford University (SU) in California, USA; and Lejano is undergoing a 10-week course on ‘Love as A-Force for Social Justice’ from SU. 

 

Coursera was founded in 2012 by SU’s computer science professors Andrew Ng and Daphne Koller, with a vision of providing life-transforming learning experiences to anyone anywhere. 

 

A total of 190 top universities worldwide and industry educators partnered with Coursera to offer courses, specializations, and degrees that empower over 43 million learners around the world to achieve their career goals. (StratCom)
