CSC Elections 2010: And then there were four
THIS YEAR\'s Central Student Council (CSC) election on Feb. 4 is expected to be one of the most tightly contested in recent history as four students have filed their certificates of candidacy for the presidency. Three of the contender are under newly formed political parties while one is an independent.
Gevy Ann Villanueva, a third year AB English Studies (ABES)-III, is running under Tindig! MMSU. This is her second shot at the presidency, having ran last year against incumbent CSC President Ace Joseph R. Rumbaoa.
Other presidentiables are: Bryan A. Corpuz, BS Nursing II, The 2010 Party; Reynold Theodore Bassi, ABES-II, of the Anak ng MMSU Party (Alyansa ng mga Nagkakaisa at Aktibong Kabataan ng MMSU); and Jonas Paul B. Dela Cruz, BS Civil Engineeering III, independent.
Student Services Director Henedine A. Aguinaldo and Student Organizations Chief Marlina L. Lino are one in saying that this development means that more students are now politically inclined, and are willing to come forth to serve.
In 2007, the CSC Presidency was uncontested as only one student aimed for the post.
The same was true in 2008.
The campaign period begins Feb. 1.
