<P><FONT face="Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif" size=5><STRONG>Accountancy students score in quiz, other contests</STRONG></FONT></P>
COLLEGE OF BUSINESS, ECONOMICS, AND ACCOUNTANCY – Accountancy students here garnered major awards in the 5th Regional Mid-Year Convention of the National Federation of Junior Philippine Institute of Accountants-Region I and Cordillera Administrative Region Council, Sept. 22-24, at the Supreme Hotel in Baguio City.
Patrick Joseph Sadornas and Pablo Macatbag were both adjudged champion in the accounting information technology quiz and poem writing contest, respectively.
Likewise, the group of Karen Zara Tadifa, Catherine Salvatierra, Mark Anthony Juan, Rodel Calapit, Ednalyn Sagadraca, Abigail Calasag, Reymund Pascual, Cherry Ann de la Cruz, Pablo Macatbag, and Rowell Gaspar embraced the championship in the drama festival.
Other victors in the competition were: Joseph Laurel Uclusin – 1st runner-up, practical accounting 2 quiz bee; Maria Jerni Gapas – 2nd runner-up, KPMG Laya Mananghaya and ReSA PRS quiz bee; Christopher Paz – 2nd runner-up, business math lympiad; Karl Nick Balintec – 3rd runner-up, SGV Cup Level 1 and 4th runner-up, practical accounting 1 quiz bee.
The winners will represent the Region I and CAR in the National Mid-Year Convention on Oct. 24-27 in Antipolo City.
Aside from the competitions, a lecture on the Serbanes Oxley (SOx) Act of 2002 was also delivered. The SOx Act aims to expand corporate governance, increase public confidence in financial reporting, and strengthen capital market systems.
