AACCUP visits 5 programs

Deeply committed in raising the bar of academic excellence, MMSU submitted five degree programs for accreditation by the members of the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities in the Philippines, Inc. (AACCUP) who were here in the university from August 26-30.

The degree programs that were evaluated for Level IV - Phase 1 are Doctor of Education, MA/M in Education and MA in Public Administration, BS in Biology, and BS in Mathematics in CAS.

The 11-member AACCUP team was led by Dr. Loreta R. Galima of the Nueva Viscaya State University (NVSU) as overall coordinator. With her were Dr. Danilo S. Hilario of the Bulacan State University and Dr. Yolanda B. Viloria of NVSU who served as team leaders for Graduate School and CAS, respectively.

Other members of the team were Dr. Celerino S. Palacio of Bicol University, Dr. Ian M. Francisco of Cagayan State University, Dr. Nestor Z. Rondina of President Ramon Magsaysay State University, Dr. Betsie M. Dela Cruz of Isabela State University, Dr. Dennis B. Legazpi of Batangas State University, Dr. Mario M. Abesamis, Jr. and Dr. Geraldine L. Madjaco of the Nueva Ecija University of Science and Technology, and Prof. Enrico R. Rivano of Laguna State Polytechnic University.

During the opening program and welcome ceremonies, MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis said that the university is on its way to becoming a premier university as more programs and institutions are subjected to accreditation.

"We must undergo accreditation process to know our strengths and weaknesses and that we will also know which aspect needs to be developed more. Also, we should always exceed the standards in everything we do at the university." Dr. Agrupis said.

She also lauded the faculty and staff of the five programs subjected to accreditation process for "sacrificing a lot in preparing the documents and other requirements".

Last July, three undergraduate programs were subjected to Level III, Phase II Survey Visit - the BS in Ceramic Engineering, BS in Electrical Engineering, and BS in Mechanical Engineering.
