In celebration of Dr. Joey Comiso's 80th birthday and his contributions to climate change studies, a special webinar titled 'Addressing the Climate and Environmental Crisis' will be held on September 21, 2020 (8:00 PM – 11:00 PM EDT / 8:00 AM - 11:00 AM Manila, Philippines Time).

Dr. Comiso is a senior research scientist of the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) who has conducted various studies that have led to greater understanding of the state of our climate and environment. He was also a participant of the Philippine Balik Scientist Program, a recipient of the NASA Outstanding Achievement in Science Medal, and a corresponding member of the Philippine National Academy of Science and Technology.

Meanwhile, MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis is among the 11 resource speakers in the virtual event. She will discuss the topic, 'Alternative Source of Energy: The Bioethanol Program of MMSU' during the program.

This special webinar is organized by Dr. Gay Jane Perez, Associate Professor of the University of the Philippines (UP) Diliman, and Cynthia Garcia-Eidell, PhD candidate of University of Illinois in Chicago.
