MMSU breaks ground for new CBEA academic complex

To support its growing student population and upgrade its facilities, the MMSU College of Business, Economics, and Accountancy (CBEA) broke ground on August 3 for the construction of its 126-million-peso, 3-storey academic complex.

Expected to be completed in November 2027, the building, soon to rise adjacent to the main CBEA building, will house academic facilities, including a kitchen, computer, entrepreneurship, and research laboratories for the college’s various program offerings.

Describing the building as a significant stride in pursuing “Universal Quality Education” in the SUCCEED agenda, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., said this project “reflects our vision of a future-ready university that invests in people by investing in facilities that support their aspirations."

For his part as the College Dean, Prof. Emil James Tanagon described the project as a worthy investment for current and future students. “As our student population continues to grow each year, the demand for facilities also increases. I consider this an investment in the future of our stakeholders, especially our students," said Dean Tanagon.

CBEA now caters to close to 3,000 students. In the second semester of the past academic year, the college had 2,833 enrollees, a figure that will only grow over the next few years.

The groundbreaking ceremony was also graced by Victory Batac Pastor Jenson Naceno, who led the blessing of the project site, as well as MMSU Vice Presidents Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal (Academic Affairs), Dr. Fides Bernardo Bitanga (Administration and Finance), Dr. Mee Jay Domingo (Planning and Strategic Foresight), other administrators, faculty members, and students.
