In furtherance of the university’s partnership with the Seirei Christopher University (SCU) in Japan, MMSU welcomed eight SCU physical therapy students on Monday, February 16, ahead of their week-long clinical observation at the university and various partner institutions in the province.

In a courtesy call on the Office of the President, VPAA Aris Reynold Cajigal delightfully hosted the visitors, who were led by SCU Department of Physical Therapy faculty member Dr. Daiki Takahashi. Dr. Cajigal expressed his hopes for their successful and meaningful stay at the university.

MMSU-University Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Center (UPTRC) Chief, Ms. Mary Audrey Viloria, and MMSU Department of Physical Therapy Chair, Prof. Gerald Lester Caoili, accompanied the Japanese visitors.

Following the courtesy call, the students will do clinical observations at the UPTRC, the Mariano Marcos Memorial Hospital and Medical Center, The Black Nazarene Hospital, Inc., Karmelli Hospital and Clinic, and at partner institutions of the MMSU Physical Therapy Department’s extension activities, Florentino Camaquin Integrated School in Vintar and Balay Taripato in Magsingal, Ilocos Sur. The visitors will also take part in various cultural immersion activities.

The partnership between MMSU and SCU was made formal in 2021 through a memorandum of understanding. Since then, the two institutions have engaged in several collaborative activities. The eight students are the fourth batch of exchange students from SCU, while MMSU hopes to send a third batch of its students to SCU in the near future.
