Mariano Marcos State University has formalized its partnership with the Asian Institute of Technology (AIT) as University President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. signed the memorandum of agreement on December 12, following the earlier signing of AIT President Professor Pai-Chi Li in Thailand in November.
The agreement establishes new microcredential programs under the Industry-Based Microcredential Pathways Toward Graduate Programs in Probiotics and Functional Foods for Sustainable Health and Nutrition (iPath-Pro), funded by the Commission on Higher Education’s Higher Education Upskilling and Study for the Advancement of Staff and Faculty (HUSAY) Program.
Focusing on the i-Path Pro project’s Domain 3 - Food Innovation, Nutrition, and Health, these microcredentials specifically offer three flexible and stackable courses on Sustainable Process Design, Nutrition Label Compliance Analysis, and Innovative Food Packaging Solution.
President Manzano acknowledged the partnership with AIT, stating that it supports the university in forwarding its vision toward creating a sustainable community through probiotics and food innovation. “We look forward to a meaningful partnership with AIT as we both expand our reach in achieving our vision”, he added.
Designed to equip learners with advanced knowledge and practical competencies in the development, application, and industry utilization of probiotic and functional food technologies, the program supports MMSU’s goal to deliver internationally recognized training programs.
As a premier international institution in higher learning and training, AIT will serve as MMSU’s partner in implementing the microcredential offerings, providing academic and industry-based expertise and facilities.
Witnessing the signing were Dr. Doreen Domingo, i-Path Pro project leader and Graduate School Dean, and Dr. Dionisio Bucao, project staff and Director for Research.
