Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), through its Internationalization, Linkages, and Partnerships (ILP) office, held the ILP Convergence Program on December 9 at the Center for Flexible Learning to develop short-term programs and strengthen the university’s IZN initiatives.
Together with planning and development coordinators, department chairs, and selected faculty members, the sessions tackled ILP opportunities, travel management, ISO documentation, and Commission on Higher Education (CHED) directives related to international engagements, with emphasis on the ongoing efforts to develop short-term international programs for MMSU’s participation in the Consortium to Study Abroad initiative. Once finalized, these programs will enable MMSU to receive foreign students and offer short-duration academic courses starting next year.
The sessions were jointly facilitated by chief of international programs Mark Joseph Pastor, chief of alumni relations Krismary Sharmaine Agbigay, chief of international mobility Quincy Savellano, and Dr. Eva Jean Viernes of the College of Business, Economics, and Accountancy.
The convergence resulted in a clearer, more cohesive framework for MMSU’s next steps in crafting short-term programs, following the university’s participation in the US–PH Global Partnership Level II Workshop: Creating Transformative Learning Experiences for US Students in the Philippines, held on November 17–20 in Mandaluyong City. It also ensured alignment among colleges as MMSU prepared its submissions to Fulbright/Philippine-American Educational Foundation (PAEF) and the Consortium for Study Abroad in the Philippines (CSAP).
Through this initiative, MMSU aims to expand global academic activities and hopes to begin offering its first set of short-term international courses by 2026, hosting transformative, Philippine-based short-term programs for international learners.
