7 MMSU professors bag awards for excellence in Filipino education and literary arts

Promoting Filipino language education and the literary arts, seven professors of the Mariano Marcos State University were recognized at the Gawad Pamana ng Pluma International Awards on December 6 at 456 Hotel, Baguio City.
Organized by ME Publications and in partnership with the Kapisanan ng mga Filipinong Awtor at Manunulat sa Pilipinas, Inc. (KAFAMPI) and the Association of Social Sciences Educators for Traditions and Treasures of the Philippines, Inc. (ASSETT), the event honors outstanding contributions of teachers, writers, and authors in Filipino literature, education, and creative/academic writing.
Under the Katangi-tanging Gurong Lider, an award for teacher-leaders in education, Dr. Rosabel Acosta, Dr. Maria Eliza Lopez, and Dr. Imelda Najorda of the College of Teacher Education; Dr. Nelie Salvador and Dr. Janet Rivera of the College of Arts and Sciences; and Dr. Leah Sambrano of the College of Industrial Technology, were all recognized for their leadership roles in MMSU as well as regional organizations.
Meanwhile, under the Pluma Platinum Award for outstanding writers, Dr. Djoanna Pungtilan (CAS), Dr. Rivera, and Dr. Salvador were awarded for their authorship and publications in Filipino language and literature.
The awards extend beyond recognition as they celebrate the power of the written word and the resolute dedication of Filipino and foreign writers who shape consciousness, enrich culture, and leave a lasting legacy in society.
Other distinctions include Katangi-Tanging Awtor/Manunulat for exceptional writers, Natatanging M. E. Publications Awtor ng Taon for notable authors of the year, and the Gawad Pluma Special Awards, which cover honors such as the International Quill Award, Gawad Bagwis ng Panitik (Rising Literateurs Award), Literary Leadership Award, MEP Posthumous Award for Notable Author, and Gawad Sulo ng Lipi.
The Kapisanan ng mga Filipinong Awtor at Manunulat sa Pilipinas, Inc. (KAFAMPI) is a national professional organization of educators and creatives in the Philippines, registered and recognized by the Securities and Exchange Commission.
