UP Visayas, MMSU ink deal for collaborative programs

The University of the Philippines - Visayas (UPV) has partnered with the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) to develop collaborative programs in fisheries and aquatic sciences starting this year. 

UPV Chancellor Clement C. Camposano and MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis formalized the partnership through a virtual signing of memorandum of understanding (MOU) last October 13. 

In the MOU, MMSU and UPV agreed to do research collaboration by tapping expertise from each other and by submitting proposals in a joint undertaking.  

The universities committed to undertake graduate level instruction, research, training, and public service or extension programs. To facilitate this, MMSU may invite UPV faculty and researchers as adjunct professors; while the latter may tap qualified personnel from the former as co-mentors.  

Moreover, MMSU and UPV have also agreed to strengthen the research capabilities of their faculty and researchers through cooperative use of library, laboratory, equipment, and other facilities.

Dr. Agrupis expressed thanks to UPV for the partnership, hoping the collaboration between the two institutions will help advance their common goals and objectives. 

The MMSU College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology is a national university for fisheries education while UPV is a Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Center of Excellence in the same field. (StratCom)
