MMSU's ABC wins 2nd Best School Paper in national press conference

Besting 169 school papers nationwide and ranked one in the region, MMSU's ABC, the official pupil publication of MMSU Laboratory Elementary School, was awarded overall second-best school paper in elementary level (English Category) of the 2024 National Schools Press Conference (NSPC) held in Carcar City, Cebu from July 8 to 12.
The school publication also placed second and fifth in the sports and SciTech pages, respectively.
MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis congratulated the students and advisers, underscoring the university’s commitment to preparing students to meet national standards.
Meanwhile, Mr. Seymor Ridon, main adviser of MMSU’s ABC, expressed his gratitude, highlighting their continuous commitment to nurturing young journalists. “This win is a validation of our commitment to campus journalism. I have always been so passionate about inspiring and molding young writers,” he said.
Dr. Aris Reynold Cajigal, dean of MMSU College of Teacher Education, and Prof. Philistia Mercuria Bagayas, principal of the University Laboratory Schools, also commended the student writers’ dedication, hard work, and exceptional skills.
In the previous year’s NSPC, MMSU’s ABC was the overall champion in the best school paper category, securing first and second in sports and SciTech page sections, respectively.
MMSU's ABC was also one of the top contenders in the national press conference from 2016 to 2019.
