MMSU holds gender-responsive training for AANR sector

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) conducted a training workshop on the Gender Analysis Framework and Monitoring and Evaluation (GAME) Tools for the Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources (AANR) sector on April 18-19 at the Center for Flexible Learning.


The two-day training workshop was comprised of a comprehensive lecture series. Dr. Blesshe Querijero, project leader of GAME Tools in AANR and associate professor of the Institute of Biological Sciences of the University of the Philippines Los Baños (UPLB), introduced the GAME Tools Framework to intensify the AANR sector. 


Dr. Querijero was joined by Ms. Jane Bahil and Ms. Anne Margarette Balog, science research specialists, who talked about the fundamentals of gender and development and the importance of gender-responsive projects, gender analysis framework, and tools for AANR, and an overview of the harmonized gender and development guidelines checklists (Generic Design Checklist and PIMME Checklist). 


Dr. Nathaniel Alibuyog, MMSU vice president for research, development, and innovation, expressed his support for the initiative and recognized the importance of mainstreaming gender considerations in AANR projects. MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis has always stressed the importance of gender equality and equity in MMSU’s drive to become a premier Philippine university by 2028. 
The training was attended by research, extension, gender and development coordinators, and faculty members of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CASAT) and the College of Aquatic Sciences and Applied Technology (CASAT). (MKA_StratCom)
