MMSU holds first PQA convergence meeting and workshop
In preparation for the upcoming 2024 Philippine Quality Award (PQA) Assessment, the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) conducted its first PQA convergence meeting and workshop today, March 5, at the Center for Flexible Learning.
The Philippine Quality Award (PQA) is an integrated approach for performance management that sets the standard of excellence to help Philippine organizations achieve world-class performance. Furthermore, the PQA is the highest level of national recognition for exemplary organizational performance as stated in the PQA Educational Criteria 2023-2027.
Through the PQA convergence meeting and workshop, participants will be able identify gaps, and provide and gather needed information under Leadership, Strategy, Customers, Measurement, Analysis and Knowledge Management, Workforce, Operations, and Results categories for the 2024 PQA Application Report.
MMSU President Shirley C. Agrupis highlighted the importance of PQA, stating that “PQA is the boldest step towards a quality management system.”
Dr. Agrupis also emphasized the university’s exceptional management practices, which can be further realized through careful and strategic planning and evaluation.
On the other hand, Dr. Errol John V. Valdez, MMSU Chief of Institutional Accreditation and co-team leader of the MMSU PQA team, shared the rationale of the meeting and workshop. “PQA revolves around the principles of total quality management and quality management system that focuses on improving service delivery,” he said.
Prof. Rey Villacillo, MMSU Director for Quality Assurance and co-team leader of the MMSU PQA team, serves as the main facilitator of the planning sessions and workshops.
Also present at the event were Dr. Virgilio Julius P. Manzano Jr., vice president for planning and strategic foresight and co-team leader of the MMSU PQA team; Dr. Oscar Agpaoa, vice president for administration, finance, and business; Prof. Emile Kathleen Aguilar, university and board secretary; MMSU directors and chiefs of various units, college deans, faculty members and employees.
