3 Research Papers win National Awards
Three research papers have again added another feather in the cap of the university as each of these captured the National R & D Paper Award given by the Department of Agricultural Research (DA-BAR).
The papers and their respective authors are the following: ‘Characterization of shallow aquifer properties in Region I’ by Rodel T. Utrera, Nathaniel R. Alibuyog, Reynold M. Caoili, and Rodolfo A. Natividad – applied research: technology generation category; ‘Catching efficiency of multiple handline operated in Payaw areas’ by Facundo B. Asia and Rodan R. Garcia – applied research: technology adaptation/verification category; and ‘Germplasm collection, multiplication, maintenance and evaluation of native and exotic varieties of ubi and tugui’ by Noralyn B. Legaspi and Beatriz S. Malab.
The authors received their awards Oct.5 at the BAR RDMIC Building in Diliman, Quezon City. Each paper received P5,000 and certificate of recognition.
It can be recalled that prior to the BAR Symposium, the papers on shallow aquifer and native and exotic varieties of ubi and tugui also gained recognition during the Ilocos Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILARRDEC) Regional Symposium on R&D Highlights held August 10-11. These were first and second placers, respectively, in the research category.
The national research symposium is an annual activity of DA-BAR where MMSU is a consistent recipient of awards.
