To safeguard institutional identity and intellectual property, Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) oriented business owners on the trademark licensing protocol for the commercial use of MMSU-branded products at the Technology Business Incubation (TBI) Office on October 5.

The trademark licensing protocol establishes guidelines for the commercial use of the University’s name, seal, logo, and other protected marks. It ensures that businesses that produce, sell, or distribute MMSU-branded merchandise are properly authorized.

The orientation gathered representatives from cooperatives, printing and tailoring shops, retailers, merchandise sellers, distributors, suppliers, and other business establishments.

During the activity, Director for Innovation and Technology Armie Sabugo emphasized the importance of the licensing protocol, particularly in safeguarding institutional identity and intellectual property. She noted that its implementation ensures that all products bearing the university's name and brand marks meet institutional standards.

Meanwhile, Director for Strategic Communication Herdy Yumul discussed the MMSU brand standards, guiding participants on the proper use and application of the official seal, logo, and visual identity device. He also presented various merchandise featuring the university's visual identity to demonstrate their appropriate use.

Engr. Artbellson Mamuri, chief of the University Innovation and Technology Support Office, on the other hand, explained the trademark licensing protocol and the requirements for becoming an authorized MMSU licensee. This was followed by a presentation on trademark licensing protocol implementation plan led by Ms. Joyce Alejo, TBI staff.

In line with BOR Resolution No. 132, S. 2026, the MMSU trademark licensing protocol aims to strengthen the protection of university’s intellectual property while promoting safe and authorized operations among business establishments.
