With the aim to learn from MMSU’s best practices in student services, technology education, and several other areas, delegates from the North Eastern Mindanao State University (NEMSU) Cantilan Campus, led by Campus Director Juancho Intano, conducted a benchmarking activity at the university on Wednesday, February 18.
MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., warmly welcomed the visitors during their courtesy visit and fondly shared some of MMSU’s key operational strategies in fulfilling its mandate as a state university and MMSU’s recent strides in pursuing its SUCCEED agenda.
Having taken note of the university’s leadership in holistic student development in the country, Dr. Intano shared that they primarily aimed to learn from the university’s frameworks with regard to student services, student government, technology education, sports and socio-cultural activities, and the university’s campus paper.
“Our purpose for the benchmarking activity is to learn from the best practices of Mariano Marcos State University in technology education and student development,” Dr. Intano shared.
To this end, the NEMSU Cantilan delegation, headed by Dr. Intano, with some of their heads of offices, participated in meetings and discussions with their counterparts.
The delegation consisted of Ms. Myrna Loren, Student Welfare and Development Head, Ms. Vivian Gruyal, Admissions Head, Dr. Jillard Mercado, Sports Head, Ms. Lourdes Doliente, Cultural Affairs Head, Mr. Francis Ambray, University Student Government Adviser, Dr. Jordan Arpilleda, Industrial Technology Department Chair, Dr. Juliet Fallado, Student Publication Adviser, and Dr. Teresa Alas, General Teacher Training Department Chair.
With the hope for the possibility of forging partnerships with MMSU in the future, Dr. Intano said, “I think this is the beginning of the partnership between MMSU and NEMSU Cantilan.”
For his part, Dr. Manzano reassured MMSU’s openness to collaboration and partnerships with NEMSU. “MMSU is one with NEMSU in looking for areas where we can establish partnerships and actually cooperate,” he said.
NEMSU Cantilan Campus caters to about 9,000 students and is one of NEMSU’s six (6) satellite campuses spread across Surigao del Sur.
