DA turns over agricultural equipment to MMSU

The Department of Agriculture – Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I) formally turned over farm equipment valued at ₱1.638 million to the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU), in a ceremony held on December 23, 2025, at the DA Ilocos Norte Research and Experiment Center (INREC) in Batac City.
The project certificate was officially handed by DA Regional Executive Director Dennis Tactac to Dr. Charlie Batin, dean of the College of Agriculture, Food, and Sustainable Development (CAFSD), and Dr. Leo Inocencio, CAFSD Dingras Program Coordinator.
The equipment, funded under the DA’s Corn Banner Program, consists of one four-wheel tractor with complete accessories and two pump-and-engine sets. These resources are intended to enhance mechanized farming activities and support the university’s extension and production initiatives, particularly at the Dingras Campus.
In his message, Dr. Batin expressed his appreciation to DA-RFO I for its sustained partnership with MMSU, noting that the assistance will significantly improve hands-on learning and productivity among agriculture students. He also thanked MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., for approving the utilization of the equipment for both instructional and production purposes at the Dingras Campus and expressed hope that similar support will be extended to the CAFSD Batac Campus in the future.
Meanwhile, MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr. acknowledged the importance of inter-agency collaboration in advancing agricultural education and rural development. He emphasized that the newly acquired equipment will play an important role in training future agricultural professionals and in promoting modern, sustainable, and technology-driven farming practices. "We are making sure that government resources are used as much as possible to help students, farmers, and local communities," he added.
The turnover ceremony was part of the distribution of various DA projects and interventions and was attended by DA-INREC Center Chief Medardo Pablo, Regional Agricultural and Fishery Council representative Benjamin Campañano Jr., and Provincial Government of Ilocos Norte representative Edwin Cariño.
