PSCA holds public forum

University President Shirley C. Agrupis presented her four-year accomplishments and her future plans in a public forum virtually held today, April 29.

Dr. Agrupis said that for the past four years, MMSU has obtained an average accomplishment rate of 81.17 percent based on the performance assessment conducted by the University’s planning directorate. She said the directorate assessed the university’s accomplishments by measuring key result areas and actual outputs.

Also, she stated the university’s seven-point agenda has attained the following rates: academic excellence, 85.94%; creative and relevant research programs, 81.46%; high-impact and transformative extension programs, 93.24%; improve revenue generation, 74.91%; expanded external linkages and partnerships, 84.38%; vibrant and nurturing environment, 54.94%; and effective and efficient management, 89.73%. She also responded to the inquiries raised by the participants in an open forum.

This event is a part of her performance evaluation being conducted by a committee created by the MMSU Board of Regents (BOR) in line with her application for reappointment as MMSU president.

Besides this activity, the BOR’s evaluation committee had reviewed reports and documents, and conducted online surveys, key informant interviews, and focus-group discussions with representatives from various sectors to assess Dr. Agrupis’ performance as head of the academic institution.

The evaluation committee is headed by Dr. Lourdes M. Portus, executive director of Philippine Social Science Council. She said that stakeholders’ inputs will serve as strong basis in the BOR’s decision on Dr. Agrupis’ application.

“Your role in this evaluation is very crucial, and I hope you have been open in providing constructive comments, feedback, and objective assessment of the performance of Dr. Agrupis,” Portus expressed.

Members of the committee are Dr. Tirso A. Ronquillo, president of Philippine Association of State Universities and Colleges (PASUC) and Batangas State University; Dr. Rogelio T. Galera, Jr., director of CHED Region I; Prof. Emile Kathleen M. Aguilar, secretary of MMSU Faculty Association, Inc.; and Engr. Alexis Philip A. Acacio, president of Building Dreams, Inc.

The rigorous evaluation is in-line with Section 11 of the Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Memorandum Order No. 16, series of 2009, which provides that “no incumbent president shall be reappointed without undergoing an evaluation of his or her performance by an evaluation committee constituted by the government body.” Daniel P.
