Modern IT and Data Center set to boost MMSU digitalization

Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU) marked a major stride in strengthening its information and communication technology infrastructure toward a future-ready learning ecosystem with the inauguration of its Information Technology and Data Center on January 19. The facility was formally inaugurated by Commission on Higher Education (CHED) Chairperson Dr. Shirley C. Agrupis, marking a significant step in the university’s digital transformation agenda.
Dr. Agrupis was joined by MMSU President Virgilio Julius P. Manzano, Jr., along with presidents of higher education institutions (HEIs), members of the MMSU Board of Regents (BOR), members of the Academic Council, partner institutions and agencies, and other key stakeholders.
The newly inaugurated facility forms part of the Smart Campus initiative, a transformative program that integrates advanced information and communication technologies into campus infrastructure. Designed to create a connected, efficient, secure, and future-ready learning environment, the initiative goes beyond physical construction by embedding digital systems that support teaching, research, administration, and student services.
In her message, CHED Chair Agrupis emphasized that the building represents more than infrastructure, describing it as a symbol of MMSU’s commitment to development, balance, and sustainability. She noted that the facility stands as a face of a more resilient university and affirmed that the Smart Campus initiative is fully aligned with the mandates of CHED’s ACHIEVE Agenda.
“I am confident to say that every building in MMSU is funded with integrity. Let this be a hub to further our smart transformation as a community,” Dr. Agrupis said.
Meanwhile, MMSU President Manzano underscored that the Information Technology and Data Center reflects the university’s values of integrity, honesty, and good governance. He highlighted that the facility plays a critical role in strengthening institutional efficiency, enhancing academic delivery, and supporting data-driven decision-making, while ensuring that technological advancement remains anchored on accountability and service to the public.
Through the development of the Smart Campus Modernization and ICT Center of Excellence, MMSU further strengthens its capacity for digital governance, innovation, and data-informed planning. The project consolidates ICT operations, modernizes facilities, and enables seamless connectivity, smart systems, and scalable digital services aligned with national and global education standards.
One of Chair Agrupis’ banner projects during her term as MMSU’s 7th president, the Smart Campus initiative positions the university as a technology-enabled, student-centered, and innovation-driven institution that is responsive to the evolving demands of education, industry, and society. (𝘔𝘔𝘝)
