Jed Angelo Hidalgo, a senior student of the Bachelor of Technical-Vocational Teacher Education major in Computer Hardware Servicing program, won second place in the photography category at the recently concluded Global Youth Competition (Batch II) on October 20.
Hidalgo, in his entry titled “From Zoom to Boom: Teaching Towards Tomorrow,” captured a teaching intern connecting to his students through a screen. Displayed on his tablet are the Sustainable Development Goals icons, which according to him, remind his purpose for teaching.
The photo also captured the passion of educators to continue promoting lifelong learning even through digital spaces, in hopes of building a better future for everyone through education.
“This reminds me that as an educator, I hold the power to shape minds and hearts toward sustainability and inclusivity,” he stated.
Hidalgo added that his win did not just give him the opportunity to represent the university on the international stage, but to advance his message as a future educator to the world.
The competition, which commenced on September 16, was organized by the Faculty of Education, Surabaya State University. It is a platform for the students and educators to promote awareness on global education issues and the role of the youth in achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
