MMSU is overall champ anew in regional culture, arts fest

At the close of the 2018 Regional Culture and the Arts Festival last October 29-31, the MMSU Team still reigned supreme bagging overall championship for the 16th time.

Held at the Ilocos Sur Polytechnic State College (ISPSC) in Sta. Maria, Ilocos Sur, the team trampled the other five state universities and colleges after garnering a whopping 169 points.

ISPSC, the MMSU’s closest rival and host of this year’s festival, only garnered 113 points, a hairline victory for the second place against the Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University which was upset with 112 points. The former was in fifth place while the latter landed second place in the same competition in 2017.

On the other hand, the Pangasinan State University landed fourth in the official ranking with 107 points, a feat it also enjoyed last year.

The University of Northern Philippines, which was third place in the previous year, moved two notches down to fifth place after garnering only 76 points. The North Luzon Philippines State College (NLPSC) finished last with only 12 points at the close of the festival.

The MMSU Team composed of 135 artists and coaches will form part of the PASUC Region I delegation for the 2018 National Culture and the Arts Competition to be held at the University of Southeastern Philippines in Davao City on November 27-30.
