LES students win in national competition

A team which composed of elementary pupils from MMSU won in the prestigious National Mathematics, Science At Kalikasan (MathScieAKa) competitions conducted by the Philippine Society of Youth Science Clubs (PSYSC), Inc., held at the PHILVOCS Office in Diliman, Quezon City last September 22.

Xavier Venn R. Macadangdang and Charles Julian L. Timbreza, both Grade 6 pupils, emerged champion in the Mathematics, Science at Kapaligiran (MathSciAKa) Workshop Fair (Bracket I) - Magnetic Field Category.

“They have earned an accumulated maximum points which made them champions,” beamed May Flor C. Rivera and John Loren O. Adriatico, faculty at the Laboratory Elementary School at CTE who served as their coaches.

The MathScieAKa is one of the events in the celebration of the National Science Club Month (NSCM) which usually falls in September and is being spearheaded by the PSYSC. Through this event, young students get actively involved in science clubbing movement, and at the same time, promote public understanding of science, technology, and the environment (ST&E). The NSCM also served as a venue for interaction among science club members from various regions in the country.

As the umbrella organization of all science clubs in the country, PSYSC is conducting this annual activity to emphasize the students’ roles and their active participation in the issues concerning ST&E today, and to realize the importance of science clubbing in the schools and society.

This year, the PSYSC aimed to simplify the complex discipline of natural sciences with the theme, “Wavefront: Accentuating Potentials, Activating Technological Advancements.”
