CAS faculty president elected FAI BOD chair

PROF. CONSTANTE S. Salasac was elected new chairman of the Faculty Association Incorporated-Board of Directors (FAI-BOD) in an election held at the MMSU Administration Building, June 26. He fills the position vacated by Prof. Perla C. Marders who recently retired from government service.

“Oh, I am the newest member here!” he said after getting the majority vote of the eight BOD members. He immediately exercised his duty as chairman by leading the selection process for the replacement of the FAI auditor, engineer Edmund Edison A. Esteban, who was appointed new chief of the Physical Plant and General Services Division of the university.

In the CAS Educators’ Society (CASES), members vote separately for the positions of president and FAI-BOD representative. The CASES president is not necessarily the FAI-BOD representative, a set up different from that in the other colleges in the university. This year, the society followed the general rule: that Prof. Salasac, being the CASES president, must also be the CASES representative to the FAI-BOD.

“This is very good to all faculty members. Prof. Salasac has always been unopposed in previous CASES elections. For we all know, he is a very dedicated person and a great protector of the faculty,” said Rommel M. Dascil, an active member of the FAI and the  CASES.
